I am not teaching you how to fight. I am teaching you how to control evil
- Soke Masaaki Hatsumi
Training
I teach martial arts the same way it was taught to me, through tradition, hard work, and commitment. You will learn all the details, techniques, physics, and discipline necessary to be a true martial arts. Understanding who you are is as important as understanding what you can do as a martial artist. How committed you are in class will shape how you progress as an artist and in life.

Introduction and respect – bow into class, say Sun! Show you respect yourself by respecting your parents and elders, dojo, instructor and fellow students. You will be treated the same way you treat the art.
-
Warm-up and discipline – leave your emotions at the door, claim a spot on the floor, clear your mind, warm up, and focus on what you are doing. You determine your own ability and are responsible for improving upon it.
-
Training and ambition – pay attention to your stance, movement, and breathing, secure each stance, make each movement count, build upon every action by striving to ensure the next one is better than the previous. Each action you take should accomplish something.
-
Cool-down and humble – relax, meditate, calm your breathing, thank your parents, fellow students, and teacher. Bow out of class, say Sun! and know you got one step closer to being a true martial artist.
